Seaside Ride – 11 x 14 Giclee

On the Dunes of the outer banks of North Carolina can be found many beach bikes. This one seemed to have been there for a while and was captured at the right time of day. The original rusty orange weren’t the colors I associate with beach bike so I did them in a blue ink mixed with Gouache watercolor to get the pale blue. The detail in the sea grass is intense as I did try to make it very realistic. The background and foreground are softer to make the start of the show, The Bike” stand out as she should.

I have seen this scene of a bike against the dune fences 100’s of times always thinking I’d draw one and today is that day. And I am already working on her sister “Red Rider”
