I’ve made it into a gallery!!

Less than two years after entering the marvelous world of art and artists, I have been fortunate enough to be accepted into my first art gallery, The Decatur Market and Gallery.

What is so awesome and unique about this gallery is that each of the selected artists takes his/her turn in working at the gallery. This means that no matter when you come, you are assured of meeting at least one of the artists instead of just a sales person. All of my colleagues are artists or craftsmen (or women!) of the highest caliber. Right now my work occupies the “big wall” and I have 9 originals there right now along with plenty of giclee reproductions that have been “spot colored” with water color.

My first official shift is Friday, December 7^th from 4-8.

November was a good month on the show circuit! The ChastainPark Fine Arts Show held on November 4-5, was a perfect setting with perfectweather. And, as always the promoter, The Atlanta Foundation For Public Spaces,- www.affps.com did a bang up job. In thatshow, I featured some of my artwork on canvas but with a touch of color. I havenot added these on my web site yet but have plans to put a few of these on-line.The show did yield a very much appreciated overall award of third place. The caliber of artists at this show were sublime and to receive this award was avery high honor.
Two week later we headed to Kissimmee, Fla for the OsceolaFine Arts show. And ANOTHER perfect weather weekend! That show yielded an awardof excellence. And the color spot colors were a huge hit there.

Gainesville, FLA - Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show

I am very excited and honored to have been chosen the 250 local and national artists competing for a spot in the Downtown Festival & Art Show inGainesville, Florida! Sunshine Artist ranks this show in the top 30 and Greg Lawler’s Art Fair Sourcebook has it as number 27. Either ranking humbles me….the artists are amazing. Florida seems to receive my pen and ink art well. Having entered the Art Fair World....

Though it has been some time since I posted on to this site, it has not been for lack of activity. In September of last year, I started doing fine Art Fairs and what a time it has been....

The decision to do art fairs rather than art galleries was not a hard one for me. It has always been my life time dream to take the RV on the road and have my art pay for the ride. My husband and I have been working towards that goal for a long time. We have been visiting fine art fairs for over a year, speaking with artists and accumulating work. And with the help of www.artfairinsiders.com and www.sunshineartist.com, finally we made the very expensive decision to purchase our tent and made the plunge into this exciting new world. And what a world it has been...

The first show I entered was the 2011 Sandy Springs show in Sandy Springs, Ga. Being my first show there were the normal problems of setting up the tent for the first time and learning how to sell art in this new arena. But the nice surprise was that we won the best in show during our first time out. And since then it has been quite a whirlwind.

Since that time Carl and I have accumulated several ribbons, sold lots of art and have fallen in love with this life. Among the shows:

Mt Dora Festival of the Arts - Garvine's Mill selected for judging (no winner)

Osceola Art Fair - - second place

Thanks to all the patrons who attended these shows. I especially want to thank my fellow artists in the art fair world for sharing their knowledge, wisdom and time with me. I have met many folks without whose advice I would have been lost.

SAAG National Juried Show

My drawing Honey - Bee Still has been accepted at the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild newest show. Having walked off the beaten path from my historic type of drawings, it is quite an honor to have this smaller piece accepted by the Juror, John Cram creator of 4 distinctive art galleries in Asheville, NC.

The showing of 163 pieces of art selected from 600 will take place at one of my favorite galleries, The Richard Low Evans Gallery of the Blue Ridge Mountain Artists Association. And I am proud to now be a member of SAAG.

Please join me for the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday October 15th from 5-7pm. This event is well done and the museum is awesome.
